Across the United States, people are turning to search engines to navigate the complexities of their relationships.
New research by casino experts at NonGamStopBets has uncovered the states where couples are most actively searching for relationship support resources.
The analysis is based on keyword search volume normalized by population, ranking the top ten states where couples are experiencing the greatest struggles.
By identifying the top five search terms for each state, the study offers deeper insights into what people are searching for online to help them navigate their relationships.
Colorado leads the ranking with 396 average monthly searches per 100K population.
The top search terms include “couples therapy,” “divorce lawyer near me,” and “divorce laws.” This shows a dual narrative of proactive efforts to repair relationships and preparation for potential legal resolutions.
New York follows closely with 375 average monthly searches per 100K population.
The state’s top terms include “couples therapy,” “couples counseling near me,” and “divorce lawyer near me,” highlighting a balance between reconciliation efforts and legal proceedings.
Despite the state’s fast-paced lifestyle, New Yorkers are still investing time into improving their relationships.
Known for its quick and glamorous weddings, Nevada ranks third with 368 average monthly searches per 100K residents.
However, the state’s top search terms, “divorce attorney” and “divorce laws” make up 56% of the state’s searches suggesting a notable level of marital instability despite its reputation as a hot destination for tying the knot.
Taking fourth place with 364 average monthly searches per 100K people, New Jersey shows a strong inclination toward legal resolution.
In New Jersey “divorce lawyers near me” and “couples therapy” make up 46% of the searches. Other notable searches include “couples therapy,” and “infidelity.”
Georgia rounds out the top five with 362 average monthly searches per 100K population. Interestingly, 63% of these searches are focused on repairing relationships, led by the terms “marriage counseling” and “couples therapy.” However, the state also has the highest percentage of infidelity-related searches, accounting for 20% of its total.
States with the unhappiest couples ranked

Maryland places sixth with 350 average monthly searches per 100K population, 81% of which are therapy-related. Top searches include “couples therapy near me,” “marriage counseling,” and “couples therapy,” reflecting a strong focus on conflict resolution.
With 347 average monthly searches per 100K people, Massachusetts places seventh.
This state is also focused on mending relationships with 68% of its searches being “couples therapy near me,” “couples counseling near me,” and “couples therapy.”
Placing eighth, Washington saw 343 average monthly searches per 100K population. The majority of searches at 82% are counseling related with “couples therapy” being the most searched term.
The remaining 18% of searches are for “infidelity” reflecting a concern for trust and fidelity issues within the state’s relationships.
Utah ranks ninth with 339 average monthly searches per 100K residents. The state’s most popular search term is “couples counseling near me,” with counseling-related queries accounting for 61% of all searches.
Additionally, 17% of searches focus on “infidelity,” while the remainder are for “divorce attorney.”
Taking the final spot is Connecticut, with 334 average monthly searches per 100K population. The state’s most popular search terms are “couples therapy” and “couples counseling near me,” with therapy-related terms accounting for 81% of searches.
