Gratitude First
As I reflect on what has felt like one of the longest months on record, I want to place gratitude at the center of it all.
I’m thankful for that anticipatory feeling that ushered in this month, that turn from Halloween to the first of November.
I’m thankful for November 5, the day my third book ANIMAL HUSBANDRY was published.
I’m thankful for what November 5 also was in this country–a right to exercise my franchise to vote.
I’m thankful she tried her best.
I’m thankful I still have faith in this country, though it’s being tested every day in every way.
I’m thankful I was able to return to New Mexico to be with family and celebrate the life of a great man, my uncle.
I’m thankful I logged out of my work computer on Friday commencing a pause for my mental health.
I’m thankful my life and family is transforming in a new way.
I’m thankful for the kindred energies in my life, rising high in every way, and bringing me along on their journeys.
I am thankful for this place where I am home: my body, my mind, my soul.
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Gratitude first.
Always.
