Macedonia doesn’t get to vote in the election. But they’re still greatly affected by it.
The preliminary presidential elections are on the way in the USA and from my point of view in next year’s campaign, we will witness a clash of biblical proportions between Donald Trump and Hilary Clinton. I don’t know how it looks for America, but for us in Macedonia, it doesn’t look good!
First of all, let me explain to you why someone from a tiny, insignificant, “no were to be found on the map” country like the Republic of Macedonia would care about the elections to be held in another country? Why would we care about another country miles away on a different continent? The reason we care is because my country is one of those charming “banana” republics with a beautiful countryside, attractive people, corrupt government, and a society completely dependent on the will of U.S. diplomats.
In this lovely/insignificant/corrupted country the ambassador of the USA has more political power than our prime minister and president combined. When some third rated politician from Washington, with a complicated title like “Deputy Senior Adviser of the Vice Secretary of the State” is coming to visit us, it is celebrated as Second coming of Jesus in our media.
When American diplomats have so much influence in our countries day to day politics, maybe we should get the right to vote in the U.S. presidential elections? It seems fair… Right? At least we would have the chance to elect our own protectoral governors. But there is a problem, of course. Given the history of elections in Macedonia, a great majority of Macedonians would vote for Trump. I’m not sure if that’s some suicidal instinct, or generally speaks of how we are that stupid, but somehow we always vote for the wrong leader, repeatedly. We would not only vote for Trump, but surely we would also proclaim him for Tsar, with acclamation!
Yes, we can conclude that it is much wiser if you dear Americans vote for all of us. But what do we have on the table? Donald or Hilary?
In his campaign, the real estate billionaire Donald Trump is not even hiding his racism, his anti Islamic rhetoric, anti immigration, and anti everything opinions. Yes, he is very honest and there is no doubt in that, and he is not to be disturbed with some insignificant problems from some small, tiny, third rate country. No, if there are democracy problems in Macedonia he would ignore it, economical problems also, if there are treats of civil war he would probably bomb it from every side respectively.
What about Hilary Clinton? We remember the “humanitarian” actions of her husband in our surroundings. If she is to honor those actions, we will be literally fried. We also remember her lovely adventure in Libya, while she served as the secretary of the State. If she plans to have the same direction in solving world problems after she is elected precedent, the whole planet will be fried, literally.
I can’t speak on your behalf, my beloved Americans, but for us Macedonians there is not much hope. Vote or no vote, we’re fucked up either way.
If somebody can’t understand why my country is so dependent on the USA, don’t ask me. You should seek your answers on different addresses. Try with this one: 1000 Colonial Farm Rd, McLean, VA 22101, United State (Google it).
