I have recently noticed how many men take enjoyment in decorating their home and I find this quality so attractive!
First, if you love a man it is so exciting to see him express himself in this manner. To see a man take a design risk, take pride in some gorgeous outcome he created, create a welcoming sanctuary all from his own imagination – it is a beautiful sight! It is truly a gift to see so many insights and qualities about your man through seemingly routine decisions. To see a man’s face light up when he describes a stone countertop he picked out, displays a statement piece he is proud of, or chooses a color that makes him happy to see each day is such a priceless and precious experience to a woman.
Second, a number of decisions men make are not only mindful of the man but also mindful of someone he may choose to be close to, such as a current or future spouse. I believe it is such a gift to see that creative expression of a man through his space and a valuable way to build connection. The way you decorate your home can be an artistic expression. To see someone’s guts on display and see that there is a common understanding of what you find comfortable, of what you find welcoming, of what you find inspiring, and more is a really wonderful adventure. For instance, I know a man who is so gifted with lighting. His lighting is wildly beyond practical. He uses light in a way that welcomes, that creates a sanctuary, that celebrates the beautiful items that are lit up, that creates a space that you long to linger in. I think this talent is an incredible gift to the woman he chooses to share his space with one day.
Third, the way a man builds his space can potentially express character qualities. Men are under constant pressure to always be strong, to always know what they are doing, to always be enough, to always be a specific style of masculine, to always be everything at once. For a man to have the strength needed to be vulnerable enough to express himself in such a personal manner and take artistic risks can say a lot for his maturity, confidence, vision, and creativity. To be a woman finding herself in strong agreement with his vision and how that vision relates to his personal dreams and to know there is a chemistry with his personal expressions builds so much respect and appreciation and admiration for this exceptional man.
Men, enjoy your home goods, enjoy the lantern that was speaking to you, enjoy how plush that blanket is, enjoy that special decor item you saw in a catalog the other day! Women appreciate the opportunity to get to know you in that manner and to celebrate another beautiful aspect of you. If you have not already, take a chance and try expressing yourself in this manner. You’ve got this!
