Laziness is a parasite that can suck the success out of your life.
One day, you will wake up, not wanting to leave the bed, and you will realize you screwed up your life.
That is the worst thing about it. But, it is the very thing that will help you overcome laziness.
Remember this as it’s the key to overcoming laziness.
And look, there are many reasons people are lazy.
But all of them revolve around two main points:
- Your lifestyle.
- Your mental health.
Those two points actually affect and influence each other. Let break that down.
This is why you’re lazy
Your lifestyle has a lot to do with what you eat, whether you exercise, and how much sleep.
Do you get enough sunlight? Any sunlight?
If you eat junk food, sleep late, do not even leave your house, do not get sunlight, and basically live like a potato, it sounds like a joke to ask why you are lazy.
The audacity!
You might think that you’re doing these things because you are lazy. Well, what if you are lazy because you’re doing these things?
The problem is that you won’t easily break the cycle because you will feel, you know, lazy.
But you have to. You will know why by the end of this article.
This lifestyle will deprive your body of what it needs to function well. It’s a miracle you’re still alive!
The second aspect is your mental health. Look, I will be blunt, if you’re feeling like crap, you will naturally feel lazy and unmotivated.
Sometimes, we are lazy because we are not feeling well. We have a lot of problems that we are ignoring. We are overthinking; therefore, our energy is spent for nothing.
We are afraid and worried; therefore, we cannot focus and are terrified of screwing up.
We indulge in many bad habits, usually because our poor mental health, but those bad habits worsen our situation.
Infinite scrolling, for example, on TikTok, watching things we don’t only think are stupid but don’t even care about. And yes, some content is good. But the algorithm suggests something good it knows you will like after making you watch ten stupid videos.
The algorithm knows you more than your mom does, and it manipulates you more than your toxic ex ever did.
That will fry your mind.
You went there in the first place because your mental health is bad. But you came back worse.
And that’s just social media. I won’t go into details about other destructive addictions.
So, when your mental health is poor, you will be lazy, unproductive, and unmotivated.
Start taking care of these two aspects and move to the next step.
Is there a way to overcome laziness?
Yes, remember the first sentence in this article?
Of course, you don’t. Your attention span is shorter than my temper.
Laziness is the parasite that can suck the success out of your life.
Reminding yourself of all the negative things that can happen as a result of your laziness and how you can fail and live miserably is the fastest way to get out of bed.
What does that mean?
Sit down and summon your demons.
Grab a piece of paper and write down everything you care about in your life. Ponder for a few minutes how laziness will make you lose them and screw up your life.
Watch your hair sit out and feel your chest become tighter as you imagine how your laziness will make you miserable.
I like taking the dearest and nearest goal to my heart and then going wild.
I think of all the ways laziness will make me lose this dream. I filter nothing and go beast mode.
Sure, I feel bad after doing this. But that’s the point. Feeling bad is what will push me to overcome this staggering feeling of laziness and actually get out of bed. I cannot afford to lose my dreams, can you?
