I know it feels like:
-We live in a culture of instant gratification, bottom dollars, and empty promises.
-We want great design, but we don’t want to pay for a designer with skill…..
-We want great content, but we refuse to hire great copywriters and content creators.
-We want great websites, but we settle for templates and 404 Error pages.
-We want great photos, but “my friend has a camera and is getting into photography.”
I also know:
-You are going to be frustrated.
-You’ll get frustrated at the watering down of your art, your skill set, and your profession.
-You’ll want to quit at times, wondering what it’s all worth when a potential client would rather source a friend or Fivver than support YOUR talents and offerings.
-You may even tie your worth to your talent, which is a very dangerous place to exist.
But you NEED to HEAR THIS:
Those people are not your clients. You are seeking out the wrong client based on the ways in which you perceive yourself and your audience… and it will come through intentionally and unintentionally in your voice, platform, marketing, and delivery.
Your clients… your IDEAL clients… understand art. They understand value. They understand skill and vision and execution and the patience and passion you pour into every project.
They understand the social game. They understand online. They understand the value of what you have to offer and they can see that you not only understand their brand, your desire is to make their brand BETTER, more COHESIVE, and more SUCCESSFUL.
That’s who you are. That is what you do. And the demand for YOU has actually never been higher.
You are just fishing in the wrong pond.
Think bigger. Think bolder. Think partnerships. Think about how you offer yourself as an extension of the vision of your client.
This is our photographer, Kendra. People ask if we have someone following us around taking pictures…
Yes. Sort of.
Pictures are a large part of who we are and how our brand has evolved… And Kendra makes our brand better. She is constantly thinking of content to highlight who we are, what we are about, how we live our lives, and how to add value to our audiences so that how Kala and I teach can come alive in picture form.
She is ETL as much as we are.
We would not be where we are today without the content she creates.
We understand this, as do the clients that are LOOKING FOR YOU RIGHT NOW.
So to you, Creative…
Whatever you do, align with those clients who you WANT to work WITH (not for), and who’s vision you can SEE. Communicate that clearly in a way that they can FEEL your buy-in and the long-game of working together.
We’ve never lived in a time where what YOU do has been more relevant.
We need your creativity.
We need your eye.
We need your vision.
We need your skills.
We need your passion.
We need you to charge your worth.
We need you to know that you’re worth what you charge.
Cheers.
