As the plane lands on the runway in San Francisco airport, I see and feel the energy of the city buzzing all around me. I am walking into the airport in order to retrieve my bags so I could head to downtown San Francisco and begin my trip to build, produce and display my one-man show, A Sacred Artist in Modern Times.
My main purpose of living this life is to use my gifting I came into the world develop it to help facilitate world change. My goal is to use and find personal and universal freedom while I share my gifts. I believe the access to my freedom is being in the ritual of being my purpose. I must be focused and intentional.
I am a singer, storyteller of the human story. I smell a portal opening and hear a parade being called to begin. I want to be at the head of the parade, daring anyone to follow. I have a story to be told. I have a reason to be alive with the energy of life. Life is breathing me and I can feel it in the air, in the soles of my feet.
The streets are full of stories waiting to be told. The streets are buzzing with tales of lives lived in triumph and loss. The line of taxicabs is waiting for their customers, waiting to make the fare from the airport to downtown. The cost is at least 45 dollars. The driver says very little. The hotel is on Post Street, the site of a long time historical business. I tip the driver and carry my luggage into the Victorian styled settings. I am meeting an old artist friend. It is his gallery I will be showing my one-man show. Dinner and the museum, catching up on old times became the menu.
We spent the night in San Francisco walking the city, brushing elbows with the people. The next morning, after breakfast, we check out of the hotel and begin the drive through the city to head for the redwoods to arrive in Fort Bragg. We become lost in the city and begin to drive in circles trying to avoid one-way streets. We ask for directions from people on the street and we get confusing responses. We try to trust our directors, but we had to eventually have to trust our own sense of knowing. We began to trust our gut and bonded together without becoming fearful. Together we began to pull ourselves from the maze of the city, find the right pathway out of the city toward our destination. We began to drive over the Golden Gate Bridge heading towards Marin.
The beginning of the one-man show was on the horizon. This the beginning of my personal inspiration of how I will be doing life from this moment forward. I have to trust my process and its organic unfolding.
Being inspired and ignited by seeing the art at the Museum of Modern Art, I am ready to start the conversation about being a sacred artist living in a modern world. I want success and I want my success to be useful. I want business to be done within sound spiritual terms. I want to business to break people, but to build people. I want to build a brand that names and claims people to be of value. I want the brand to be all about the people building tools of awareness building blocks of support, slowing our lifestyles down to be moving in the speed of love and not in the greed of money. We need to invest in our flow of life that empowers life and transforms the experience and the unfolding steps of life. Life is a thing of beauty and breath and we are sharing the same water and air.
On this Memorial Day weekend, I have planned to trust the creative process and allow the freedom of trusting the manifestations of 10 24 by 24 pieces of assemblage sustainable art. The story being revealed is a story of being present, being in a state of awareness and being willing to be a working ritual of living that manifests transformation for me, while including all aspects around me and within me. I stand in the flow of being present for the gifting of life. My purpose is to be an artist of change, transformation. I am willing to be teachable and to teach. I am living in the moments of honoring life as a sacred process. I am willing to be sacred with a firm sense of strength and courage. I am not afraid to live large in love. It takes courage to live in love and not fear. Fear is a living form of hiding from life. Fear is only an emotion that indicates it is a moment to consider the option of change. The change only allows the wanted gift of transformation. For the sake of gaining personal and spiritual freedom, I step into the pathway of trusting the power of my inspiration and purpose.
As the date of the art show becomes closer and I meet more people of the town of Fort Bragg, I listen to their narratives and hear the wonder of their humanity, the possibilities of what dreams could be made of. I see the creative minds of hope stepping into the rooms, claiming the birthrights of living a world in the pursuit of happiness and the joy of freedom. I will remember these memories with a deep sense of respect. The joining of our stories become a new story. The simplicity of our being present together creates a new and more expansive story to be told.
Before I know it four days have passed and I have nine paintings finished and I have one more to go. This is a calling for a conversation, a calling for a commitment to be present for the gifting of life. This is the beginning of a template I will be using to illustrate my purpose as a sacred artist living in modern times. I am a reflection, an echo of being love in action as I am constant in my state of being a transformer. As I share my story I am hearing your story. Together we can make a moment to remember.
I now have ten narratives of visual art and ten stories laid upon a page. It is my conversation with the world. These are my living prayers of healing painted on the newspapers of the Los Angeles Times. Los Angeles is the city I was born in and the birthplace of my life. Since that day I have been a spiritual happening every day. Each day I can be born again if I choose to be more. I choose the power of life and the power of giving. I choose to give to you.
Hopefully, I will be taking my show to your town or city someday soon.
