Gratitude for what you have, or what someone has done for you — is a powerful and underrated tool: it can make you feel so good that your blood pressure goes down, it can lower stress hormones and give you a stronger immune system and generally make you happier.
All too often we have positive thoughts about other people, but not very often do we actually share them with one another.
Writing a letter of gratitude to someone or sending him or her text that made a difference in your life is one of the ways that can bring the strongest positive emotions to both you and the recipient.
HOW TO DO IT
Write a letter/send a text with specific details about what it is you appreciate about them, Call to mind someone who did something for you for which you are extremely grateful but to whom you never expressed your deep gratitude. This could be a relative, friend, teacher, or just about anyone who has helped you along the way. Try to pick someone that you can meet face-to-face in the next week. I find it helpful to pick a person that I haven’t thought about for a while — something that isn’t always on my mind but was a huge help for me.
