A lot of people have started to say “Become yourself” and “Be you”. Which is nice in essence but most of us do not know how to go about doing it. We already thought we were being ourselves! We already believed that we were us. So what’s with all these people telling us to be who we are?
The reason people tell you that is simple: Right now you are trying too hard to be someone you’re not.
How many times a day do you lie to people you care about? How often do you not say what you want to say? How frequently do you stop yourself from acting a certain way? And how much do you try to be someone better and greater than you currently are?
All of these are signs that you are not being yourself, that you are trying too hard to be someone else.
When you are truly yourself you will have no need to lie. You will be able to say what you want, and you will do not have to stop yourself from acting a certain way. Becoming better or greater can still be part of your life, but it is not involved with stress or worry if you do not achieve it.
Stop trying so hard.
- Let go. Do not try to be someone you are not. Instead, push all of those things to new heights that make you who you are. If you love to play Tennis, or love to create music, then focus on those parts of your life!
- You mustn’t allow yourself to think you need anything more than you have. Right now you have all the capabilities and abilities to reach whatever life you want to. You do not need anything more than this.
- Accept the fact that you have to say No. There will always be people that ask you for something every opportunity they get. Let the need go to agree to their terms. Stop caring so much for people that do not give you anything back.
Live your Life out the way you want to.
All the tips you read, all the tools you get, are all just ways that you may take. There is no one correct way to do anything. Not even Math!
Just because you only see one way doesn’t mean that that is the only way. So live your life the way you want to. There are other ways to be happy, other ways to become successful and other ways to reach new heights.
Find your own path, and live your own life. Take the advice that you think will help you, and ignore everything else. Do not pressure yourself to follow the advice or steps that other people show you. That may have worked for them, but it might not work for you.
Instead, do what you know is best.

@Yare Flare I got your point but did you get what exactly the author was trying to explain here? See it’s not about being lazy or don’t do anything at all until it pleases you, in fact to be better at certain things or the the things you really love, you’ll have to do it your way, no matter what other people say because what they say is nothing but to make you feel that either you can’t do things as good as they do or there’s the only way doing it and that’s their way.
Great post, wanting to be someone else is possible under the following circumstances: Hating and rejecting yourself, and voila, you are someone you are obsessed with being, sadly which comes with no rewards, only consequences. It happened at the right place, with the right person at the right time, the worst decision of my life, though I won’t fully blame myself, since this was unexpected and came with extreme unstoppable force. But the outcome? Lost relationships, lost time, lost wealth, lost family, definitely not worth being someone else.
No. Be better, don’t be yourself. If you never try to improve yourself, develop your personality so that you ARE a better person, and get out of your comfort zone, you are dead – you have a fixed mindset and will never grow.
