What I’ve learned is that unless you’re willing to deeply feel how much you’ve been hurt then the heart doesn’t get to reveal its full power. It doesn’t get to reverberate and positively impact the world.
You start to become closed off from anything that is not considered your world. You begin to be closed off from other people’s suffering. Your compassion levels fall in direct relation to being uncompassionate with your own hurts.
In situations or instances that cause a previously-closed heart to crack open, then the love that is felt in that moment isn’t just for self or for natal family, but for humanity itself. That love exudes a vibration that is all-encompassing.
In other words, people feel it emanating from you in waves. They feel an energy that indicates that at that moment, you have gone beyond the narrow labels and rules of culture, religion, status or country.
When that moment passes, we again try to reduce that wave of real love to something personal, sexual, familial, cultural or nationalistic.
I’ve seen that the heart isn’t culturally, nationally, gender, race, sexuality, age or weight, biased. It is beyond all of that. The pure heart has nothing but a love vibration.
In its purest form, the heart exudes an impersonal yet truly empowering love. It is an all-embracing and timeless love. It does not engage with our judgements of others and our limiting beliefs. A pure heart doesn’t understand ‘them and us’ thinking.
When we live from the heart, magic happens.
I’ve learned that when a pure heart is brought to business or technology, to politics or science, then magic happens. Whatever is created genuinely through and from a pure heart intention, has no desire whatsoever to conquer, trash or thrash, in competitive terms.
It does, however, have a desire to benefit the greater good. And it is through benefiting the greater-good that authentic success emerges. It arrives as an add-on, a natural side effect of our broader intention.
It is us, in our disconnection from our heart energy, who feel the need to grind, push and force. We are the ones who worry and need to win against or beat down our competitors. We check our notifications, likes, followers, connections, profit margins and email list sizes to see if we’re really winning.
We’re the ones willing to overlook a world ravaged by war if our Starbucks coffee and morning bagel are there to remind us that our individual worlds are safe.
When we’re connected fully to our hearts and the loving energy that resides there, we see Syria or Palestine and weep. We wonder why there is any debate at all, about whether some lives matter or not. When our hearts are open, we are flummoxed by divisive political rhetoric.
We know if we’re being honest; that we cannot be reduced to labels of Democrat, Republican, Socialist, Conservative, Liberal, Labour or Green, parties. Nor can we justify rabid political views of any kind.
We are so much more than this petty reductionism. Our hearts know this, and they are whispering to us all the time. “You are not this. This is not who you really are.”
When we listen with openness to our hearts, only then, will the divide and conquer, them and us, my religion, not your religion, rich versus poor, games; stop.
My heart waits with bated breath for that moment…
