Coming next week, Static Shock #1 sees the titular young hero taking his place alongside the other DC heroes as part of The New 52.
Even though no one Black is involved behind the scenes in crafting this book, Milestone alumnus John Rozum (creative force behind Komplicated favorite Xombi) is co-writing this title with artist Scott McDaniel.
Mr. McDaniel recently posted a trailer on his YouTube channel promoting the book.
Pretty cool, huh?
In addition, Mr. Rozum has posted some previews of upcoming new villains for our hero Static Shock.
Static Shock #1 is due in comics shop September 7.

Ooh. Well, DC has some legal challenges with Black Lightning’s creator Tony Isabella (great guy) so that’s always a limitation there. Black Vulcan was a legal dodge to try and not pay Isabella. Jefferson Pierce has two kids now, and they run around a bit. *shrug*
Okay. My interest is piqued. I like the idea of welcoming back Mr. “I Put A Shock To Your System”. But given the general One Negro Rule of comics, does this put Black Lightening back on the shelf? I remember Jefferson Pierce was running with the JLA, but that was back when I could afford comics. And Virgil makes for a more interesting and marketable character I suppose.
But what does this do to my hopes for Black Vulcan miniseries…
