Speaking, as we were in the suit thread, of men in sharp ties:
Alan Grayson is rocking a very bold tie choice, and more importantly, rocking the Getting It on the economy and the 99% movement. If I were his campaign manager for the next office he runs for, I would just run the last thirty seconds of that video as his ad. No commentary, no slogans, just that thirty-second speech and then his name.

Sadly, the video’s down, but I previously saw it. P.J. O’Rourke was the author that stoked my initial interest in politics, so lemme share: I gobbled up his books and anything he wrote. He’s a skillful, and very funny writer. My youth found me in the world of the Libertarian and GOP-sympathies. Over the years, things have, uh, changed quite a lot. For me, anyway. PJ, not so much. True: He is self-deprecating; I give him that. It’s bespeaks of a degree of intellectual honesty that I’d like to see exhibited a bit more by self described conservatives. But, as… Read more »
This was pure awesome. Thanks.
Now I wish Grayson were running for president… but a one-term congressman probably not so much just yet.
Grayson’s tie makes me want to play Uno!
Amen, amen!
Noah, doesn’t count, he learned it from Michael O’Donoghue when he worked at the NATIONAL LAMPOON. (To his credit, he admits as much.)
Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn!
Alan Grayson took P.J. O’Rourke to school. Just straight-up carpet-bombed his face with knowledge.
Someone needs to get this guy into the White House.
I will say that P.J. O’Rourke is less odious than any other right-wing humorist I’ve seen. Note, in this clip, that he can actually do wry self-deprecation, for example.
Of course, that’s grading him on a VERY steep curve.
Ladies and gentlemen, my state. (Tragically, not my district.)
I was agreeing with Noah & the OP, BTW.
But Barrhaven Blogger, you make a good point too. The ‘green tie guy’ was PJ O’Rourke, a conservative humorist who is, at least, genuinely witty at times and will make fun of Republicans now and then. He shows up on NPR’s Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me every once in a while, and while he does make fun of DFH when he can, I find I can stomach him a lot better than I can most right wing “comedians.”
Agreed.
Man, that guy in the green tie was just full of himself. “Hurr hurr ad hominem hurr hurr”. If you can’t argue without resorting to ad hom attacks, then you’re doing it wrong.
