It’s Friday night at the metaverse. You feel like having a fun night out with your friends from around the world. Where do you go? The Utopia Club! An 80s retro style disco club where you can hang-out, dance, do live music and meet new people.
The dress code? Retro-and-funk! We’re talking vintage shades, big collar shirts, fancy hair-dos and more!
Say Hello to the Utopia Club. An NFT project that brings people together united by a passion for music and dance. It doesn’t matter if you’re a signed artist, or a bathroom singer – everyone is welcome. It’s about expression, it’s about creativity and it’s about collaboration. A few things that make Utopia stand out from the ocean of NFT projects that launch every day include a fundamentally strong concept, art for utility and exciting giveaways. Let’s explore!
1. The Concept
What good would the metaverse be if there weren’t any dance and music? The beauty of the Utopia is that it focuses on something really fundamental. It’s something that connects us all despite the barriers of language and cultures.
And this leads the way to a community that is purpose-driven. A community that is focused on creativity and expression. Sure, if the NFT appreciates, that would be great – but – that is not the end goal. It’s bigger than just making a ‘quick-flip’ or doing rounds as a ‘vanity’ art.
2. The Perks
You know what makes me furious? When I see projects put up ‘charity’ and ‘merch’ and ‘brand-deals’ in their roadmap. Let me get this straight, as a creator you are going to sell 10,000 NFTs for 0.08 ETH a pop, and of all the money you’d raise, you’d give back $10,000 to charity? How is that a roadmap? And, you will later start ‘merch’ which I as a user has to pay for, and which in turn gets you more profit? Are you kidding me?
Here is the deal. If the community is nothing but focused on quick-flips and ‘wen-lambo’, then this is just how things are. People are together for all the wrong reasons. And that is what 99.99% of the projects in the NFT space are all about.
The problem as you can imagine lies in the community and the mindset. With Utopia, things take a different turn. When you have people that are together on the basis of a common passion, that’s when things are more relatable.
And the perks are more relevant and specific. From community-managed radio stations, to member-owned wall-of-fame, to a Utopia Club within the metaverse for the Utopians – it’s all relative and user-focused.
3. The Art
Nothing is more disappointing than to see a new NFT project that doesn’t even take the time to polish its time, do some creatives for the socials and have an actual ‘brand identity’ – sell out in 2 minutes.
Yes, that bear or that penguin may look cute. But, what about it? Lots of JPEGs are cute. How does the art connect to the metaverse? What is its purpose? Does buying a bear or an ape or a horse make me look like I’m that particular animal? What’s it all about really?
You see – art should have a purpose. With Utopia, we’re talking about 10,000 unique crafted retro-and-funk-styled characters. Characters that express music and dance. A feel-good community all dressed up in retro style and teleported back to the Saturday Night Fever era.
When I communicate with other Utopians, my avatar is what I’m seen as. This is my identity and how I express myself. And, this makes far more sense than using JPEGs of NFTs as ‘display photo’. I mean, there are millions of BAYC derivatives by now. Imagine, a million people with an ape JPEG on Twitter and Instagram. How is that any good at all? It all goes back to the community. To the purpose. To the collaborative element. And, that is what will stand through the cycles as the hype of NFTs dies down.
