When I say to you, you deserve better,
You must believe me.
When I say to you, I can’t give you what you deserve,
You have to believe me.
When I say to you I am not looking and ready for
a relationship, you have to believe me.
These words are not a challenge for you to
prove me wrong. All I am saying is that we can
both do a lot better on our seperate ways.
And my words are simply a confession
from the heart knowing I won’t be able to show up
for you in a special way you deserve.
When I say to you, you deserve better, you need to listen
because if you were being completely honest with
You, yourself, would know how just that is true.
Although walking away is hard,
letting you stay where you are not needed,
would be harder.
So when I say you deserve better, I think you should
Thank me and wish me however you feel like.
I would understand even if you wished me well, in hell
because I know it’s the hardest thing to hear from
someone you love; someone who probably lacks
accountability to step on their ego to be there for
someone.
The gentle me, hearing those words, would thank
myself for my honesty, because some people will
lie just to keep you as a placeholder
until they see greener grass.
When I say to you, you deserve better,
Please, believe me.
Some might not say anything,
but if they say nothing but also do nothing,
I think you should believe them.
May you and I have the discipline and self-respect
to walk away the first time and not waste another two years.
