About Patte Wheat LeVan
Patte Wheat LeVan is the author of several books, one of which was made into an MGM movie, Dr., You’ve Got to be Kidding, a l-o-n-g time ago, starring Sandra Dee. Her second novel was nominated for a Pulitzer, but didn’t get it. Her third book, Hope for the Children, received Honorable Mention in the Janusz Korczak International Literary Competition, presented in 1980. Her panel cartoon on positive parenting, You’re Getting Closer, a collaboration with cartoonist Dale Hale, was syndicated with King Features for seven years. From 1989-2007 she was editor of a monthly national Protestant magazine, and contributing editor to Chrysalis Reader, an annual literary anthology, which has also published her creative nonfiction. A Southern California native, she migrated to Port Orchard five years ago and is currently working on a memoir, No Visible Means of Support.
