100 Words on Love, by Ariel Chesler
–
Walking toward each other on a downtown Brooklyn street
the distance of time made us unrecognizable to each other
and distorted the features we knew so well.
There were pauses in our smiles as we searched our faces
looking for the images we had stored in our minds,
for the expressions we dreamt of at night.
And suddenly the blurs snapped into place
completing the puzzle of that moment.
There you were. There I was.
Had the moment been too momentous?
Had we even changed at all?
We will never miss each other like that again.
