The Walker Stalkers started with two friends and an idea. This film documents the ultimate Walking Dead fan experience!
“The Walker Stalkers were once two, but now they are many. Their efforts to involve charitable organizations, devoted core team members, and actors willing to give back is just a testament to who they are as people.”- Redmond Farley
The WalkerStalkerCon stared with two fans James Frazier and Eric Nordhoff, it now runs in 12 cities and is attended by thousands of Walking Dead, Zombie, Horror & Sci-Fi fans every year. I’ll be covering my local New York/New Jersey WalkerStalker.Con at the Meadowlands in New Jersey this December 4th through 6th.
Much like the WalkerStalkerCon, Walker Stalkers began small, simply shooting video for the Convention and has snowballed into an ambitious documentary film that not only covers highlights of the Walker Stalker Convention but also individual stories of the founders, volunteers and fans that make it possible, to capture why this Con stays true to its original mission of keeping it Walking Dead/Zombie/Horror fan owned, run and operated.
From the films creator Redmond Farley:
“In October of 2014, I was approached by Amber Hoisington about shooting video for the Walker Stalker Convention. Immediately, Garrett and I started brainstorming. Then, we teamed up with Beth Keener and came up with a plan that we felt would cover the highlights of the convention and the overall tone.
It didn’t take long for Garrett and I to realize that there was more to the story of the Walker Stalkers. We were able to get a small glimpse into the world of James Frazier and Eric Nordhoff. We were introduced to several people, each unique. We listened to their stories and couldn’t help but feel inspired. There was an overwhelming sense of family and loyalty. James and Eric started something that was truly amazing. This was a place for the fans created by real fans.
Then we learned about how many lives were impacted by this fan experience. Every detail of the convention was handled with a sense of ownership. Every volunteer we came across took pride in what they did, and you could feel it throughout the crowds of people. It was a warm environment unlike anything we had ever been a part of. People were connecting.
After our time in Atlanta, we knew that we wanted to tell the true story of the Walker Stalkers. James and Eric started with a small idea and never looked back. The Walker Stalkers were once two, but now they are many. Their efforts to involve charitable organizations, devoted core team members, and actors willing to give back is just a testament to who they are as people.
We produced our promo trailer to show James and Eric that their story is worth telling. A month later Amber, Garrett, and myself made the trip from Atlanta to Nashville to meet with James. We were blown away by his response to our vision and his desire to make it a reality. Thanks to the Walker Stalkers, we can offer amazing kickstarter rewards that will help us reach our goal.
We wouldn’t have made it this far without the help of our production team, Amber Hoisington, Beth Keener, or the rest of the Walker Stalker Family. It has been an incredible experience so far, and we can’t wait to jump in head first. We thank you all in advance for your contributions towards the Walker Stalkers documentary.”
