We didn’t fall in love with stories.
The way someone would notice you without you asking.
The way conversations didn’t feel heavy, just… easy.
The way effort showed up quietly, again and again.
And now, we call that unrealistic.
Too soft. Too intentional. Too good to be real.
But it never felt fake back then.
It felt like something we were meant to have.
Love Was Always in the Effort
Not in perfection. Not in grand speeches.
In effort.
In someone remembering what matters to you.
In someone trying even when it’s inconvenient.
In someone choosing to stay, not because it’s easy, but because you matter.
Effort wasn’t a rare thing.
It was the bare minimum.
Somehow, we forgot that.
Love Was Never Just One Thing
Sometimes, love was quiet.
It lived in glances, in pauses, in moments that didn’t need words.
Sometimes, it was loud and messy.
It challenged you, pushed you, made you uncomfortable only to help you grow into someone stronger.
And sometimes, it was simple.
Just being there. No noise. No confusion. Just presence.
Love was never one version.
It was always layered, always different, always real.
You Were Never Meant to Change for Love
The turning point was never about becoming someone else.
It was about becoming yourself.
Fully. Honestly. Without shrinking.
And the right kind of love didn’t ask you to change that.
It didn’t make you question your worth.
It saw you and stayed.
So Why Does It Feel Unreal Now?
Maybe because we started accepting things we were never meant to accept.
Confusion that feels like uncertainty.
Silence that feels like distance.
Half-efforts that we try to turn into something whole.
And then we look at those stories and say,
“That doesn’t happen in real life.”
But maybe it does.
Maybe it just requires something we’re slowly losing
clarity, patience, and the courage to walk away when it’s not right.
Maybe It Was Never Fiction
Maybe it was just a reflection of what love can be.
Clear. Intentional. Certain.
The kind where you don’t have to guess how someone feels.
The kind where effort is natural, not forced.
The kind where being chosen doesn’t feel like a question.
Rom-coms didn’t lie.
They simply reminded us
that love, when it’s real, doesn’t leave you confused.
