Ifwe stop to think, we’ll realize that life works in a very simple way: what you sow, you reap. Like attracts like. Your thoughts form your emotions, which form your actions, which form your story.
Simple as that.
But we set this understanding aside and make everything very difficult.
We complicate, anticipate the future, suffer for the past that no longer exists, turn small setbacks into big problems, fight with what’s inside, fight with what’s outside…
Why?
Maybe we’re too bored and need to create a challenge to distract ourselves? Maybe it’s because we don’t feel comfortable in serenity, lightness, and peace? Is it strange to feel so good? Maybe it’s because we’re used to chaos? Maybe we’ve turned complication into a necessity to feel alive?Honestly, how long can you stay in complete peace without looking for some problem to solve?
If you’re anxious and always worried about the future, have you ever stopped to notice how you’re used to believing that something bad is going to happen soon, but don’t try to put even a drop of faith in the present moment? Why do you believe so surely in your imagination about the future but are not willing to pay attention to the reality that is happening here and now?Why do you believe the popular saying that says “what comes easy, goes easy”? What sense does that make? Can’t things be easy?
What’s the problem with having an easy, fluid life without great difficulties? What’s wrong with that?
Why do you think that only what is achieved with a lot of effort, with a lot of pain, with a lot of difficulty has value? What if you started to see EVERYTHING in your life as incredibly valuable, including what came to you easily? Is it really that difficult to do what you want or need to do? If you remember that it’s just a matter of choice, won’t it be easier to choose the right attitude?Isn’t there a way to make what you say is complicated in your life easier, to take fewer turns around the issue and be more objective and practical in the solution?
Do you allow yourself to ask for and receive help? If the answer is no, why not? What’s the problem with receiving help?
Have you ever tried to take possession of your emotions and recognize that you are the owner of them, instead of letting them run wild and loose suffering the influence of all kinds of negative energy around you? When everything is going well in your life, at some point do you remember thinking: “look at all the good things, everything is going well, I am at peace”? And when something goes wrong, how many times do you repeat to yourself: “everything is wrong, my life needs to change, I’m desperate”? How much do you remember to thank and how much do you remember to complain? What is more common in your day-to-day, gratitude or complaint? What is more automatic?
I’ve put all these questions here because I believe and see in my experience that what has kept me away from this habit of complicating everything is precisely this: QUESTIONING. Questioning my certainties. Questioning the inner voice that tells me negative things. Questioning if I’m not exaggerating. Questioning the limits that my mind tries to convince me exist. Questioning my patterns of thought and action. Questioning whether a situation is really a problem or just a circumstance that requires a simple action to flow again. Questioning whether a change of perspective could not make everything easier.
I’m not saying that there aren’t really difficult situations, but I do believe that very often life becomes extremely difficult because we choose to make it difficult instead of choosing to make it easier. Many times it is indeed a matter of choice.
If you believe life is easy or if you believe it’s difficult, either way you’re right. If you believe you can or you can’t do something, either way you’re right.
Question your perspective. Question your beliefs. Question your mind.
You CAN make your life easier!
