As someone who has become adept at setting intentions, creating goals and manifesting her heart’s desires, I was tapped by The Muse to come up with a formula that anyone could put to use to create the life of their dreams and desires. I had a vivid imagination as a child that leaned toward the eccentric. I would ask questions that would have my friends rolling their eyes and shaking their heads in disbelief. An out of the box thinker, I learned that if I can see it, I can be it. It helped that my parents were my most ardent cheerleaders and no one in my life ever told me that I couldn’t achieve what I wanted. I have a bunch of yaysayers and no naysayers…except sometimes in my own mind. There are times when Imposter Syndrome kicks in and I find myself (or lose myself) in questioning if I really can do what I am called on to accomplish and whether I will let people down if I can’t. That’s when I remind myself that I have earned the opportunities that have shown up in my life. Each success builds on another and creates what I think of as the Hansel and Gretel Breadcrumb trail that leads me from one person to the next and from one door to the next and from one chance to make a positive difference to the next.
My seed planting dreams turned into jobs, relationships, creative opportunities and healing. As I am writing this, I am days away from something I have desired, worked toward, and trusted would some day arrive. This article will be published after the Big Event, my first TEDx talk (TEDxFaurotPark) called Overcoming the Taboo of Touch. Years ago, I communed with The Universe about being on the big stage with messages to offer about love, relationships, healing, peace, connection, creativity, awe and wonder. As I contemplate the talk in the wee hours of the morning, I am delighted to realize that it contains those elements, and more. I just woke up after running the talk through in my mind for the gazillionth time and am feeling more confident that I will nail it. A day or so ago, the trepidation was at its strongest and then I reminded myself of this:
Stepping stones to success=
inspiration + excited palpitation + communication + preparation + frustration + perspiration+ respiration + emulation + evaluation +
re-creation + celebration.
Have you experienced this? Are there other steps that I have missed?
“Courage starts with showing up and letting ourselves be seen.”― Brené Brown, Daring Greatly: How the Courage to Be Vulnerable Transforms the Way We Live, Love, Parent, and Lead
How will you show up today? Are you willing to be center stage in your own life?
Sometimes we stumble. Sometimes we are frozen with fear. Sometimes the Doubt Monster roars. Sometimes it sneers, “Who are you to do this?” It takes courage to walk across the stepping stones which might be slippery. No need to leap across them. One step at a time. One micromovement at a time. You are sure footed.
