Every man needs a cave. You know, somewhere they can go and do manly things with their male friends and to just escape to refresh and recharge. So, when it comes to entertaining in your cave, one thing is clear is that you need snacks. Whether you’re hanging out alone or entertaining your besties, here are a few snacks every cave-dweller should have on hand.
Pub Food
Spicy wings, fries, and mini burgers, vegan or not, are a must for every man’s cave. You can either whip them up whenever hunger strikes, or you can prep ahead and store them in the freezer. The best part is, you can have these tasty tidbits ready in less than an hour of prep time. You can also make them a lot healthier than the store-bought versions. You should also stock your mini-fridge, yes you need one, with a variety of condiments.
Brews
Nothing pairs better with pub food than an icy cold brew. You can brew your own, which will give you something to talk about with your buddies, or you can head down to the local liquor store and look for imported beers that match your mood. There are a variety of lagers to be had, so be sure to sample ones you’ve never had before. Look for ones that are specific for the season. Summer brews are usually lighter whereas fall and winter blends are usually darker and more along the lines of a lager.
Don’t Forget the Health Factor
Okay, even if you don’t want to hear it, we need to say it. Somewhere in between the wings and brew, you need to eat somewhat healthy. However, don’t think you need to limit yourself to a plate of boring vegetables. Think more along the lines of low-fat dips and salsa paired with a variety of fresh fruit and veggies. If you really want to go all out, you can create a charcuterie board fit for a king with a selection of high-quality deli meats, vegan cheeses, Melba toasts and grapes. When it comes to healthy drinks, you can swap out beer for fruit-infused sparkling water, seltzer or ginger beer.
Snack Boxes
If you’re a snack connoisseur, then you probably already have a wide array of goodies on hand. And while there’s nothing wrong with the classic potato chip, there may be times when you grow bored with your favorite chip and want to try something new. That’s where a snack box subscription comes into play. You can set up monthly delivery and sample snacks from around the world.
Turkey Jerky
If you love all things jerky, but are looking for a healthier version of traditional beef jerky, turkey jerky may be right for you. In fact, you can even try vegetarian and vegan jerky. They taste just like the real thing but are a whole lot healthier. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can make your own jerky at home. You can then pair it with a mild cheese, like Gouda, and maybe even a nice Chardonnay.
