Life is about living and though we all have high and lows over the course of existence as I have talked with others who have lived on this earth for ninety plus years, there are some key lessons shared to having a fulfilled life.
Be at peace
We often are not at peace with others, but more so ourselves!
We wait and wait and say when we do this or achieve this then I will be at peace and we do and achieve and we want and we want and peace seems to be the most elusive aspect of our existence.
Finding and maintaining peace with ourselves is one of the key ways to enjoy a fulfilled life.
You may say but circumstances arise that disturb my peace and understandably so, there will always be challenges to deal with once we exist, therefore finding a way to maintain peace in the midst of it all changing constantly is key to living a life of purpose and fulfillment.
Don’t expect perfection
I am so guilty of this, I have a perfectionist personality and expect perfection from others and myself, when this doesn’t happen, I feel overwhelmed, frustrated and a bit out of sorts.
How much peace I have denied others and myself by my continuous striving to perfection. Thankfully I am learning more each day to be content with doing the best I can and allowing myself to learn from the mistakes.
Everyone isn’t me
Getting to this place is definitely a sure way to find peace.
Sometimes we expect others to do things the way we want it and when we want it. Doing so frustrates others and ourselves and surely denies us the much sort after peace. Learning that we are all different from each other, respecting and appreciating our differences allows us to let people be themselves as we also are ourselves, after all one of our key innate needs is to be accepted as we are and not be constantly bombarded with all that is wrong with us.
Encourage
Sometimes it easy to criticize, however, encouraging others draws more positive energy to them and yourself and leads to persons being more willing to interact and be in your company. After all who doesn’t want to be in the presence of someone who motivates.
Find your talents/gifts and use in your daily work
Many of us never find out what our gifts and talents are and remain frustrated and unfulfilled. Investing in discovering our talents and using in our daily work will provide us with lasting fulfillment as we would no longer consider ourselves working a day in our lives.

These are just a few things I have learnt over the last few years, but applying theses lessons has led to me being less stressed, more content and at peace. When it is all said and done, happiness is not about having it all, but by being peaceful and fulfilled where you are and while you continue the journey of living.
