Life is a race, but it’s not just about speed; it’s about timing, preparation, and sometime, about starting over. There are moments when everyone else seems to be sprinting ahead, and there you are — kneeling at the start line, fumbling with your laces. You’re not running late; you’re simply not ready to run.
Sometimes, tying your shoes is the the most courageous thing you can do. It’s admitting that you weren’t prepared before, but you’re taking the time now to make sure every step you take is firm and confident. The world may rush past you, but in those precious seconds, you’re grounding yourself, ensuring that when you do take off, you won’t stumble.
In relationship, careers, or personal growth, we often find ourselves watching others zoom ahead. They’ve got their lives together — or so it seems. Meanwhile, we’re still here, trying to lace up the pieces of our lives that keep unraveling. But maybe, just maybe, that’s okay.
“The race begins the moment you decide to tie your shoes, not when the gun goes off.”
It’s easy to feel left behind, but what if the race is less about who crosses the finish line first and more about who’s ready to face what’s ahead? What if the act of tying your shoes, of preparing yourself, is where the real strength lies? The slow, deliberate tying of each lace is an act of self-love, of saying, “I’ll run when I’m ready, not when the world tells me to.”
And when you finally stand up, with your shoes securely tied, you’ll be ready to face the race — not just to run, but to conquer. The start line isn’t the beginning of the race; it’s the moment you choose to begin your journey, at your own pace, with your shoes tightly tied, ready for whatever lies ahead.
So take your time. Tie your shoes. The race will still be there when you’re ready to run.
