Over 6 months ago I started a trial of a lifestyle that was completely against everything I was taught. Or even thought about diet and fitness. Old school lifters and bodybuilders live by a code for food and training. That is as ingrained as the numbers on steel plates.
When I was a young man I started lifting to help learn to defend myself and sports. I was in every weightlifting class they offered. And I was an avid listener and sponge. And when a instructor spoke up about technique or weight. I fell head over heels in love with this sweaty and blazing hot room.
Now to be truthful I have only once in my life had a waistline that allowed me to shop at the normal people’s stores. And I have accepted that with a grudge and bitterness that only those of us large humans know.
I may never have had the tiny waistline or chiseled exterior of a jaw line but I am strong. Strong like the Juggernaut in Marvel comics. When my contemporaries were struggling with a 100 pounds I was hoisting 200 pounds in just a military press in the 9th grade. I am beast!
Now I do not tell you this to sound off and say look at me. I say this to let you know the level I lifted at. And when I say contrary to everything I was taught. This is the level I am talking about. Now at 44 I still bench 605 and shoulder press in the 400’s.
Now let me say this I am not a Doctor or nutritionist. I writing this from the advice concept and years of trial and error. I would highly suggest you consult a physician before you follow any advice on diet or lifestyle changes.
So without further ado I will now inform you of the last six months of intermittent fasting and the successes and fails I have had. None of it was a day in the gym but every day of it was a true challenge that taught me I have larger control of my intake of food.
