Dear Solomon, Remind Us What You Once Knew
By Andrea Wilburn

In the Bible, God gave you a choice
Between wisdom and riches
And being young, you did not realize wisdom was both
But the wisdom you already had led you to blessings
You chose wisdom and you gained an abundance
Both of wisdom and of riches
A man of few mysteries
You knew so much
The Queen of Sheba desired to listen to your secrets
And you desired to let them be known
What fascinating conversations you must have shared
No library has ever held your depths
And yet all the wisdom in the world
Ultimately did not set you apart
You too lived ego and discord and failed dreams
Achievements once so sure became gone and elusive
Where is your wisdom now that we may know it?
Where is your wisdom now that we may try to learn from your failures?
So much freedom from typical boundaries of intelligence
And yet you failed like the rest of us
Where is your wisdom now that we may try again?
Will God ever bestow this grace upon a present heart?
Wisdom can become a label just like any other
Expectations and Supposed To Be’s
Performance and anxieties
But what if wisdom is not a destination
But just a way to achieve a higher purpose?
Our purpose is Love
Wisdom is a powerful tool
But even it can be negotiated into a distraction
Wisdom must prosper, must multiply
We always demand wisdom to keep showing a new answer
But Love is the only answer
And wisdom only points the way
Oh Solomon, wisest man in history
Your wisdom fed your ego
Instead of healing your people
Your wisdom made you famous
Instead of prioritizing the humble
And so it is today
Every man
Every soul in humanity
Is given more grace than they see
A grace unseen because we choose to compare to each other to evaluate our worth
Instead of using our power to be a gift
You have the power to be positive energy
You have the power to be peace
You have the power to see the brokenness that unites us all
Instead of wallowing in self pity for being the more broken one
You have the power to dismantle your fears
You have the power to learn how to love
You have the power to know nothing
And to use that to build your knowing
You are a creator
Creating yourself into a beautiful piece of art
Sculpted once and never repeated
The purpose of wisdom is to prosper love
And the purpose of you is to experience that journey
Turning pain into lessons
Lessons into new directions
New directions to a new home
A soul at home in a body
That reminds it of the Love that brought it here
From love we came
To love we build
Oh Solomon
Remind us what you once knew
When your heart was unlearned but true
Teach us to love
And be once again new
We each have more wisdom than we know
Just pause and give it a peaceful heart to be heard
Love is not elusive
It is who we are
There are discoveries to be had
Far greater than what limiting beliefs imagine as riches
Knowing who you are
Is one of the greatest currencies
You’ve got this.
