Columnist Arianna Huffington recently talked about how a world created by men is failing. She asked whether it is time for women to take over, to transform the cultural, social, and political structures that create unhealthy levels of competition.
Do men and women see success in different ways?
Can a world led by women be more peaceful?
Do you think we have encouraged aggression and competition while neglecting gentler traits that nurture and protect?
Are men and women capable of being both assertive and sensitive, pragmatic and kind?
Tell us what you think!

Women leaders have the potential to bring that world into being, but that potential is dependent on their recognition that simply having women in positions of power isn’t enough to make sweeping changes. They must actively avoid making the same mistakes as the men who came before them. I like former Argentine president Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner as an example. She was the first woman to be directly elected to that office, the first to be re-elected, and cracked the top 20 list for The World’s Most Powerful Women. CFK may or may not created positive changes in Argentina; as… Read more »
The second, and far more fair, is that to actually achieve that goal, the bar must be set higher, and then higher still. Without higher expectations, the biggest change that we can expect will be for voters to feel much less conflicted about putting women in office upon the realization that mediocre leaders can be of any gender. But that’s the thing. I get the feeling that those pushing for more female leaders are in one hand promising that female leaders will make the world a better place while on the other want to be held to a lower standard… Read more »
Hard to say. I personally know plenty of registered democrats who still are less than thrilled that she won the primary, but prefer her to Trump. The honeymoon period will be over quickly if she wins, I’m confident of that.
I don’t think that honeymoon period will last too long because most of Clinton’s support in the last several months has been less “this is what she is doing” and more “look at this horrible thing Trump did/said”.
Columnist Arianna Huffington recently talked about how a world created by men is failing. She asked whether it is time for women to take over, to transform the cultural, social, and political structures that create unhealthy levels of competition. I think the problem is this line of thought is that it basically says everything bad in the world is the fault of men and women need to “take over” to fix it. It just supports the idea that one gender is good and one gender is bad. Also this summation runs counter to what is supposedly an effort to achieving… Read more »
If feminism is the women’s movement, I’d say no because nothing undervalues “women’s” work more than a political / social ideology that continues to measure equality in terms of traditional male value to society. There was a story not too long ago were a moderately famous couple in the U.K. was getting divorced. The husband remarked how his wife had given up a lucrative to stay home and raise their children. One thought that popped into my head was who gives up a more prestigious job for a less prestigious job? Who gives up a higher paying job for a… Read more »
I once believed this, but seeing the oppression of men, the hate of men rise with the empowerment of women, after being here for the last year, I’m having my doubts.
I’d say good women, just as with good men, but that’s not what’s running for office. Maybe start importing more Indian women for the job. I’d vote for one of them in a heartbeat. No man hate there it seems.
But unfortunately (LOL), that article would never get published.
