By Andrea Wilburn
We see ourselves as parts at the expense of our whole
And then we keep thinking that way as we fail to see others
We look at ourselves from a place of fear
Rarely, if ever, pausing to love this good thing
And we get used to perceiving through fear
We perceive our circumstances
We perceive our relationships
We perceive our daily life
Through the same disheartening fear
Until we forget how much we are loved
And forget to be grateful for all that is ours to love
Life is not fair
But it is not fair in your favor
Grace is ours to embrace
Forget whether you deserve it or not
It is yours as authentically as your pain
But how can we receive something we are not grateful for?
How can we receive something we think is for everybody else?
Each is inclined to think we are special
Unique and continually undervalued
It is a phase of maturity
While few ever want to confess such authenticity
Our actions express it continually
In how we treat others
In how we compete
In how we dominate
In how we feel perceived as small
And make up for it by extending our shadow
And we each are special
We each are unique and continually undervalued
But not being valued enough is a matter of choice
Of choosing to accept yourself
Of choosing to love yourself
Of choosing your form over your shadow
And empowering others to do the same
Create! Create your own value!
Change your beliefs
Change your perceptions
Create a heart that has room for yourself
Create a heart where what others never gave you
Has room to receive what you are able to give yourself
You are not here to overcome your fears
You are here to expand yourself through love
What you do not know you can learn
What is a mystery now can be known soon
You don’t have to stay where you have been
You must not stay where you have been
It is time to grow
It is time to trust
Everything good can certainly come to you too.
You’ve got this!
