I am bald. I started losing most of my hair six years ago. Then, in 2016, I decided to go all flat. It wasn’t the most welcome experience at that time. Though I’ve been familiar with with the causes male pattern baldness, and I knew I had a great chance to go bald—just like my dad, grandfather, and great-grandfather—I was pissed off when the hair started to fall out.
Coping with such situation both mentally and physically wasn’t easy as I suddenly felt like I’m no longer young and vibrant. However, as I got used to being bald, I began to explore many benefits on the road. In the beginning, it took me some time until I learned how to shave correctly. As soon as I got there–and so will you—things got more tolerable for me, and I began to notice some hidden benefits of going bald. They are many, but these five are my favorite:
Benefit #1: You’ll never shave again.
I just read an article on Esquire claiming that every man must have ten hair-care products: oil, pomade, dry shampoo, wax, gel, hair cream, fiber (I don`t know what it does), clay, paste and sea salt spray —they forgot to add the conditioner.
That`s a lot of money and a lot of time.
Going bald means that those days are gone when you have to wash a shirt five or six times before wearing it just because you wore it at the barber’s and it got sticky hair on it. You won’t shave again, and you won’t spend money on hair-care products, gels or haircuts.
Benefit #2: It will make you work on your personality.
Look at the bright side. Men fear that losing hair will make them less sexy or lose a job, this is mediocre thinking, and it’s why these men aren’t as secure as they should be. Losing your hair forces you to see yourself for who you truly are, beyond your looks, challenge those limiting beliefs and negative expectations, and work on yourself to compensate any un-attractiveness you may think you have with a character strong enough to face the world. If going bald should teach you one thing then it’s to be bold – with an O.
Benefit #3: You’ll look tougher.
In 2010, researchers from MIT conducted a study on the effect of age cues on health and longevity and found that people see bald men—even the young ones—as more mature than other men.
This study makes lots of sense. People, especially women, associate baldness with toughness and power. Jason Statham, Bruce Willis, Vin Diesel (and Lex Luthor). If you can go completely bald—and if you have the head for it—you will look tougher especially if you manage to grow some muscles and a well-trimmed beard.
Benefit #4: It works in summer.
Yes, your head can feel kind of hot in summer without all the hair on it, but you can wear a hat—and look better in it. One of the worst feelings ever is when your hair goes all greasy inside a hat. I knew a guy at school whose hair was always greasy and his hat smelled like feet.
With no hair, you`ll be able to feel the breeze and enjoy the summer even more, especially when you swim.
Benefit #5: It can mean that you’re good in bed.
Remember me saying that baldness makes you look tougher and more dominant? This dominance, according to studies, can positively affect your woman.
There’s a scientific hypothesis saying that women will achieve frequent orgasms as they mate with dominant, masculine males. That hypothesis was confirmed in a 2011 study published in the Journal of Evolution and Human Behavior which found that women reported more frequent and early-timed orgasms when mating to masculine men.
P.S.
Some studies also claim that bald men have high levels of testosterone and growth hormone, but they have yet to be confirmed.
Finally, chill
You may have read this post and said, “screw it, I still want my hair bag.” I can see you, but it still won`t get it back. Not all male-bald patterns can be treated; you must have enough hair on your head to perform a hair transplant surgery (they call it donor’s hair). So, you have to chill. You lost your hair, so what. Life will keep moving and so should you. Try not to regret the unchangeable and enjoy your life. It may not be easy at first but, as I said, it may teach you something you didn`t know about yourself.
