If you want to be in a relationship but feel like nothing is working, know you’re not alone. Dating nowadays is far from easy.
Although nothing is guaranteed, a few strategies can increase the odds of finding your future partner. Here’s how to find your person this year.
Get on the Dating Apps
Even if you hate the idea of online dating, here’s the reality: it’s a great way to cast a wide net when it comes to finding love. You’ll be shown people within your set parameters. You choose the ages, location, and other factors to find the perfect match, and the dating apps show you options. Signing up for dating apps is a must if you want to get into a relationship.
To increase your chances of finding love on the apps, stick to the main four: Tinder, Hinge, Bumble, and Facebook Dating.
Go On Lots of Dates
The more people you go on dates with, the more you increase the chances of finding your person. Aim to go on a certain number of dates each month. It’s ideal to aim for at least two dates a month.
The truth is, the majority of them won’t make it to a second date. But dating a lot of people is the best way to see what’s out there if you’re trying to get into a relationship.
Expand Your Social Circle
Making new friends might not seem like a way to find love, but it can be an important part of the puzzle. Every time you make a new friend, there’s a chance they might know someone who could be a potential match for you. They might have a brother or sister, a cousin, a coworker, or a friend who could be your person.
Join a Gym or Sports Clubs
If you don’t already belong to a gym, there’s no better time to join than when you’re looking for love. Not only is going to the gym a great way to enhance your self-esteem and get a healthy dose of endorphins, but it’s also a popular place to meet people.
Taking fitness classes or joining sports clubs where you might meet someone is also ideal. Whether it’s a boxing class or a pickleball club, sports can be a great way to connect with others.
Volunteer Your Time
Volunteering with a non-profit organization can be a great way to interact with other like-minded individuals. Whether that means volunteering at a local soup kitchen or wildlife refuge, the goal is to do something meaningful — and potentially increase your chances of meeting someone along the way.
Get Out of the House as Much as Possible
Here’s the truth: you’re not going to meet your person sitting on the couch. Your future person isn’t going to just find you in your living room, as nice as that would be.
Take every opportunity to get out of the house. Take the dog to the park. Go out for drinks with friends. Make more frequent trips to the grocery store or Home Depot. Because honestly? Your person could be anywhere; you just need to put yourself in positions to potentially meet him or her.
Don’t Settle for a Situationship
This is key if you want a real relationship. It can be tempting to just keep hanging out with someone you like, hoping they’ll commit over time. But it’s important to set a deadline when it comes to commitment. If they don’t commit by a certain date, it’s best to move on (and continue dating other people if they haven’t yet committed).
The Bottom Line
The truth is, there’s no magical formula to find love. But following some of these strategies will help increase your odds of finding the one.
