Facial hair is doing what comes naturally. Interesting to ask people who remove hair from their face what they are trying to reveal. The most raw displays of facial hair can be a sign of depression and/or a message communicating a preference for one’s own company due to social anxiety or a strong calling to solitude for spiritual contemplation. The one I puzzle more about is people who grow their hair to cover there eyes. Are they playing a game of peek-a-boo for attention or have they just seen enough?
Thanks for your comments, David. Very interesting observations. I’ve always enjoyed the makeovers with men who’ve grown their hair and facial hair and then show their face. It truly is revealing, as you say. My son is currently sporting what I think is a ridiculous handlebar mustache. I love that he’s confident enough to “rock it.” However, at the same time, I wonder what may be hiding behind it (as you allude to with your comments of signs of depression).
