Charisma makes us attractive but not everyone knows how to manifest t this quality naturally.
Some people, myself included, had to learn how to command their presence when they entered a room. There was a time when I didn’t know how to get people to notice me.
I was the shy girl who hide herself in the back when walking with friends. I didn’t talk unless I was asked a question. The girl who never liked being seen in public.
But that changed when I started modelling. I had to learn how to project myself to earn people’s respect. It wasn’t easy adopting certain habits that helped build my confidence and self-esteem, but it had to be done.
According to a Cambridge University study, to be charismatic you need two key traits; warmth and competence. This means you need to be likeable and dependable.
You need to know how to command respect, be trustworthy and make people feel comfortable around you. If you want to leave a lasting impression on people you need to adopt some qualities that will make you irresistible.
Although some people have one of the two major traits of charisma I mentioned earlier. They may be friendly but lack competence or they may be competent but don’t have a good rapport with people.
However, you need a blend of warmth and competence to be charismatic. You can’t have one without the other.
If you don’t know how to command your presence and gain people’s respect, here are 3 simple steps to help you build charisma and be unforgettable.
Always watch your body language.
How do you enter a room, do you walk or run? How do you hold your posture, do you crunch your back or do you walk straight with your head up and your shoulders high?
If you want to be attractively unforgettable, you should learn how to speak with your body and not just with words.
You need to be able to walk into a room like you know what you’re doing even if you don’t. Do you make yourself small by arching your back and hiding your face?
Learn to take up space when you walk. You know how celebrities walk like they own the place? You want to project that same power even if you are a nobody.
Allow yourself to have that open energy. You want to be seen and remembered. If you are at a restaurant, don’t rush your food. Take your time chewing your food and don’t chew with your mouth open.
When you are walking, hold your posture tight and try to make eye contact when passing people. Don’t bury your face in your phone because you want to avoid looking at people’s faces.
Be relaxed when you walk. If you continue to practice these habits you will begin to feel that inner power grow inside you and you won’t need to talk to anyone before they notice your presence.
Be confident when you speak.
Eyes are windows to the soul as long as you are not staring too intensely. People who are charismatic can maintain eye contact. That’s how they build intimacy in relationships.
Look into the person’s eyes when talking to them. They will see you as someone who has high confidence and high self-esteem.
People who make eye contact are more likeable and trusting. Your eyes are what makes you magnetic if you use them right.
While your eyes act as a magnet, your smile builds the spark. People are quick to remember you because they feel the warmth — and the assurance that you can be trusted when you smile.
I remember one time I was at a resurrect. I met this French girl who took my breath away in 2 minutes. I was so pissed that my date stood me up and then she walked to my table very calmly and spoke with a charming voice.
But before she said a word, I was already lost staring into her eyes and they were warm and friendly. Her smile was soft and alluring.
I don’t easily pay attention to people on the first meet but there are a few people who left impeccable impressions I haven’t forgotten to date.
So when you look at people make sure to give a genuine simple. Your confidence shows when you smile and people can read your mind through your eyes.
Your energy is crucial to being unforgettable.
One of the reasons we envy rich people is because they are charismatic. Rich people embody a competent and secure energy.
They have high self-confidence. They make you feel seen. They listen to build a connection with you so can trust them and probably invest in their business.
Although we do have some arrogant rich people who don’t care about anyone but themselves. However, even the arrogant ones use their charisma to attract their investors.
The goal of charisma is to be interesting, not interested. You are not looking for validation. You don’t have to be funny to make people feel comfortable around you.
If you can make people feel good when they are with you, they will remember you. People can sense when you are genuinely interested in what they say.
Ask them thoughtful questions about what they are saying. If they are sharing stories about their travel experiences, ask for details they might have ignored to mention.
Don’t be impatient as if you can’t wait for them to finish talking or interrupt what they are saying. That’s rude. Be present. You need to remove the attention from yourself and focus on them instead.
When people feel comfortable discussing anything with you, they will see you as dependable. Someone they can count on.
How you walk, the way your eyes move and how you talk are direct communications people notice when you walk into a room.
