Your existing beliefs, assumptions, perceptions, and worldviews are why you are where you are today.
What you think or believe to be the only truth determines where you go or what you do with your life.
Your mindset influences your reality; your lens determines what you see.
If you ask yourself: “What’s my purpose in life?” you’ll probably come up with answers that help you focus on your long term goals.
Your answer might be: “To have a happy family”. Or maybe you think: “To do something meaningful” or “To be happy.”
But most of the time, you don’t need to think about it. You probably know your answer without even checking your goals or your options.
That’s because your answer is already in your subconscious. It’s your personal, life-long response to the question: “What’s the meaning of my life?”
Your answer won’t change until you change your beliefs about what it means to live a good life. Your mindset is how you perceive your life, future, and purpose.
“There are no limitations to the mind except those we acknowledge. Both poverty and riches are the offspring of thought” Napoleon Hill once observed.
Your mindset can make you see opportunities instead of risks or see failure as a learning experience to build upon and become a better person.
Your mindset determines what you do with your life. It says whether you will be happy in your career or whatever you are currently pursuing.
“Once your mindset changes, everything on the outside will change along with it,” says Steve Maraboli.
If you’ve ever heard the saying “You are what you think, “ you know how important it is to keep an objective, growth, and positive mindset.
Our minds are powerful organs that can shape our lives and lead us to success in nearly any area of life.
An open or growth mindset isn’t just about thinking positively about any circumstance. It’s also about understanding the origin of your thought patterns and the fundamental beliefs shaping your life.
It’s also about recognising the subconscious messages your mind feeds you. Optimistic people think and act differently from people who see the worst in every situation.
Mindset is not permanent: you can upgrade or renew your thinking patterns and processes.
“The exciting news about mindsets is that they are absolutely changeable. The entire field of cognitive therapy is brd on the idea that thoughts determine feelings and that you can learn powerful techniques to modify distorted thoughts and self-defeating beliefs, says Dr Jacob Towery, adjunct clinical instructor in the department of psychiatry at Stanford University.
There’s always an opportunity to upgrade what you know and improve your mental models. That’s my mindset.
I’m always in the process of finding better and improved ways of getting things done. It’s the basis of my intellectual curiosities.
I believe every one of us can evolve into our best selves if we are willing and ready to change.
Your mindset influences everything.
When in doubt, upgrade what you know. There are more opportunities to level up if you want to improve your life.
