A new study has revealed the top five most Googled diets in the US.
The study by experts at health & wellness website Fitness Brand analysed Google data to establish the diets US residents are searching for the most. They analysed a list of 42 diets across the US to determine which is the most Googled diet in the US and every state.
The top five diets are:
1. Mediterranean Diet
The number one Googled diet in the US is the Mediterranean diet, with 574,797 searches a month on average. The diet is inspired by food from countries around the Mediterranean, such as Spain, France and Greece, and primarily includes foods such as fish, poultry, extra virgin olive oil, whole grains and seasonal fruit and vegetables.
2. Intermittent Fasting
In second place is intermittent fasting, with 500,326 searches a month on average. Intermitting fasting revolves around fasting for a certain number of hours daily. It is the top searched-for diet in California, Nevada, New Jersey, New York and Texas.
3. Keto Diet
At number three is the keto diet, with 319,189 Google searches a month on average. The keto diet is a high-fat, low-carb diet that includes animal or plant-based proteins, dairy, and vegetables.
4. Dash Diet
Number four is the dash diet, with 128,829Â searches a month on average. The diet is designed to lower high blood pressure and is rich in fruits, vegetables, low-fat dairy products and lean proteins.
5. Paleo Diet
Finally, the fifth most Googled diet is the paleo diet, with 97,255Â searches a month on average. The paleo diet centres around food that is presumed to have been eaten by early humans and avoids dairy, cereal products, and processed foods.
Most popular US diets

A spokesperson for Fitness Brand said: “This study offers a fascinating insight into the current diet and nutrition plans that people in America are interested in trying. The popularity of different diets can change for multiple reasons, whether it’s because it’s trending online or being backed by influential celebrities.
“It is important to note that diets work differently for different people, therefore, it is essential to consult a professional and research if you want to try or have any questions over a diet.”
