In the Bible there is a story
Of a certain man named Job
Presented as blameless and rich in good works
But when you read his behavior
You see that although He loves God
He worships his fear much more
Just like the rest of us
For years he imagined the worst
The children he loves
The success he enjoys
Fearing they will be lost
And he will be destroyed
As the heart is so is the man
So says another place in the Bible
Job was fear and his fear created his experience
He cries out to God for help
And God appears to be silent
Meanwhile fairweather friends
Treat Job with great spite
But God was not silent
Job’s love was silent
Job’s crappy friends were his own self worth
Telling him what he had always told himself
That he was a fraud and a fake
Finally the excess of the accusations broke his spirit
And room was made for new beliefs
God showed up when Job showed up
Confident that what his friends said was wrong
Confident that what he told himself was wrong
Job’s wife told him to curse God and die
Out of torment to her beloved in pain
She was not far off
Job did need to curse his god and die
He needed to curse his fears and let them rot
Renewed in love and peace and freedom
That would reimagine how he lived his life
Job’s faith had been in a false god
In the god of his fears and self loathing
And now he saw what the end of worshipping that god was
To lose everything you love
You must love what you love
And let the lies of your fears die
You are the divine in your life
As nobody can live your life but you
Your power is so great
If only you would believe
That love is so much better than fear
And all that you hope is already here
