Her eyes were failing her and she could not see clearly anymore. This was affecting Trina’s life as a writer and illustrator. Trina lived with her daughter and her family. Trina loved writing eight hours a day since she became a freelance writer and graphic artist. She was in her early fifties and her eyesight was quite poor.
It was the first of September, and Trina saw the advertisement that was to change her life. A leading A.I. company needed ten subjects to try their new bionic eyes technology for free. The volunteers would stay at the headquarters for six months, while they used the bionic eyes, which would be monitored by the eye specialists of the A.I. industry.
Trina signed up for the bionic eyes program. If the technology was suitable, the subject who was trialing out the bionic eyes, would be allowed to keep the million dollar technologically advanced eyewear, which fitted comfortably over the patients’ cornea after surgery was performed.
On the day of the surgery Trina was nervous. But, it was over before she knew it. The operation was fast and painless. A week later Trina started to use the new bionic eyes with all its features, which operated on simple mental and voice commands. Trina became unstoppable as a writer and graphic artist.
Whenever, the bionic eyed writer needed information on a topic, it would pop up on a 3-dimensional screen in front of her, which was a projection from her bionic eyes. Trina could now see all the information she wanted, while her vision was also enhanced.
Six months later after having successfully completed the medical trial project, she left the research facility with the bionic eye-pieces. There was an added benefit that Trina now enjoyed, which was her secret. She could “see” the past like it was happening in front of her eyes. The first time Trina visited Pompeii, she was amazed to see the people, the city, the social interactions, the culture, the religion and the city come alive, in visuals from the past.
