Imagine if they had just quit instead of persevered
Karl Bryan is someone I admire immensely in the coaching world. His recent newsletter is where he dropped this bomb and I had to share it with you as it has such a powerful story.
See if you can guess who this megastar is….
(the answer is at the end of this e mail)
250 songs released
60 hits
24% success rate
That’s not a huge success rate.
According to my research she (ooo a clue!) had recorded about 200 songs before her first hit record.
Now imagine if she had stopped because the success didn’t come right away,
or after the 10th song
the 50th song
the 100th song
What if she let fear and disappointment stop her?
If she had then she wouldn’t be the mega star we know her as today.
She wouldnt have millions and millions of raving fans, she wouldn’t have hit after hit, she wouldn’t dominate about 90% of the playlist we listen to on trips with the kids.
She also wouldn’t have been able to use her platform to do the incredible charity work that she does.
I could also well imagine that there would be feelings of disappointment, resentment, the frustration that she is more talented than some other people yet they are getting what she wanted.
What does this mean for me?
Regardless of whether you like her music or not there is some incredible wisdom and knowledge to gain from this story.
How often do you try to pursue something you care about but stop because the success isn’t immediate? (e.g. working out)
Or it becomes too hard (learning a new skill)
Or you don’t have the time?
Of course I am not saying you will have the success this person has had!
But wouldn’t your life be a little better if you used some of her story of resilience, passion and focus to help you with your dreams?
So if you are feeling a bit down and struggling use this as motivation to ‘shake it off’ (ahh another clue!)
So for the big reveal…
I am sure you already knew it was Taylor Swift!
Cheering you on,
Dan
