When we are younger we feel like we have all the time in the world.
When you’re 25, even turning 30 seems like a very distant milestone.
Turning age 50 seems like light years away.
When we get older usually around our 40s we start to become cognizant that we have lived about half of our life already.
We start to realize how little time we have left.
We feel like we should be so much further along in life than we are.
We wonder why we don’t have our life together more than we do.
Sometimes we have close friends, classmates from school, or family that pass away unexpectedly, well before their time.
If we have children they start to grow up and we realize they will be going off into the world independently and they will not need us as much anymore.
Some of our identity as a person is wrapped up in caring for our dependent children, or climbing the corporate ladder, or making alot of money.
Now we aren’t even sure who we are anymore. We don’t feel fulfilled or that we have accomplished our llife’s purpose. We may not feel happy or satisfied.
This is probably what leads us to having what is commonly known as a Mid-Life Crisis.
It is likely due to the fact that when you are young you feel like you have all the time in the world to accomplish your life’s dreams and goals.
In your youth you always think you have plenty of time to accomplish these things.
Once we are older we start to regret the time we’ve wasted on jobs and businesses that didn’t pan out, relationships that didn’t last, or other pursuits that didn’t succeed.
Unfortunately it takes us a lifetime to truly figure out who we are and what we want to become.
By the time you figure this out, years have gone by. You can only learn this by the life lessons you are taught.
“If you enjoyed the time you wasted, then it wasn’t wasted time”John Lennon
But what can you do about it now?
Focus on all the time you have left.
For the amount of time that’s in your past you still have more time ahead of you.
What do you want to do with that time?
Today, you are the youngest you will ever be.
Use your time wisely and start today!
