So much of “manhood” and “machismo” is about hiding our true selves and dealing with our personal stories as if we are ashamed of our own unique experiences, and as if we’re not living the life we should be (even though most of us have no choice in many of our experiences from youth or even events that make us who we are in the here and now).
Even though there is always someone going through the same thing and discovering the same truths, we still feel as if we’re not “right” or “official enough.”
Some of us hold secrets and shame that will infect us for a lifetime.
And why?
When the shame, guilt, fear, and conditioning stops talking for you—what’s the story that other men and women should be hearing?
And why have you kept it hidden for so long?
When you’re ready, we are too.

Correction. Machismo, not manhood.
They are distinctly different. Being manly is not a dysfunction, or anything to be ashamed of.
With so many out there besmirching, or pontificating as to what men should be today, semantics are important..as is one’s personal authenticity, whether others approve or not.
