Screening and judging which women are and are not true geeks is the dumbest thing geek-kind has ever embraced.
Two guys break down the arguments about the “Fake Geek Girls”, which essentially say that if a girls like “geek stuff” (comic books, video games, Firefly, board games, RPGs, sci-fi, manga, cosplay, Star Trek, Mario or Zelda anything, Star Wars, 20 years of Simpsons quotes, add-your-own-geekdom-here), attend geek events, spend significant time, energy, and brainpower of geek-ness, they must be faking it. These guys, by their own admission, are not the dudes chicks flock to. Yes, this is a stereotype, but one a lot of these guys believe about themselves and their peers. And some of those peers are tearing down the very women who just might think they’re awesome. If they listened to these geeks, maybe they’d think twice.
