Should a little thing like death stop you from writing to your sweetheart? This father of the atomic bomb didn’t think so.
I came across this letter months back via Letters of Note and was immediately struck by its longing, its simplicity, and the lack of overwrought emotion, so often present in such letters (and why the hell wouldn’t there be with such grief?). It’s such a beautiful, truly moving letter and I’ve been wanting to record it for quite some time.
Can’t say why it struck me as the right time to record it this week. But here it is. Perhaps there is someone out there who needs it right about now and if so, I hope it finds you.
