Ever wondered what a chiropractor does, and how it could improve your life? Dr. Austin explains the nuts and bolts behind the practice.
DEAR DR. AUSTIN: What conditions do chiropractors treat? — UNSURE
DEAR UNSURE: Chiropractic is the detection and correction of spinal misalignments that impact the communication of the central nervous system (CNS). The CNS is the system that controls all other systems, glandular (hormones) respiratory, EENT, cardiac, etc. and is the main pathway for brain/body communication. Therefore all conditions that are related to systemic function can be improved through chiropractic care. Conditions such as migraines, Parkinson’s, MS, Cerebral Palsy, ED, visual/auditory dysfunction, TMJ, and dizziness in adults and colic, latching problems, ear infections, developmental and social disorders, ADHD, Autism, in children all can be improved with consistent chiropractic care. If the spine misaligns, it can compress nerves that allow the brain and body to communicate. When a communicating system, like the body, experiences interference, it becomes dysfunctional. The most responsible and effective method to restore function is through chiropractic. Medications, diets and work outs can help the symptoms of dysfunction, but chiropractic addresses the cause.

Thanks for sharing this information on what a chiropractor does! I think it is so awesome that they can help correct spinal injuries and alignment issues in order to help with nerve communication and blood flow. In fact, it sounds like anyone with back issues should immediately see a chiropractor. The spine is too important to neglect!
Detecting and correcting the spinal misalignment is commonly known for what chiropractors do. I didn’t know that the process had anything to do with the central nervous system. My mind is reeling about the concept and practice of chiropractic care now.
