When the Grand Rapids Griffins right winger Jordin Tootoo got a shout from a young fan after warming up for last Wednesday’s game, the friendly player stopped to say hi and give the boy a high five. That alone probably would have made the young boy’s night, but Tootoo made a fan for life when he gave the boy his hockey stick.
The look on the young fan’s face when he realizes what just happened is priceless.
The 31-year-old right winger—who has played in the NHL for 12 years—was sent down to the Grand Rapids Griffins, which is Detroit’s AHL affiliate, in the middle of the season, but has maintained a positive attitude.
