Heather Gray remembers a Christmas Eve that could have been a disaster and turned out to be amazing.
My husband and I usually split Christmas Eve between his step-family and his bio family, We see one in the afternoon and the other at night. A few years ago, there was a huge ice storm and his bio family canceled their Christmas Eve. We saw his step-family during the day but we were driving home at 5:00 with Christmas Eve already being over. I had a meltdown of epic proportions. Christmas Eve was always a big deal in my family and to have it be over before dinner made me so sad. I was bawling my eyes out the whole way home, sad for Christmases past. My husband drove us to a Chinese food restaurant, got us take out, and set us up at home with take-out and Christmas movies. He took good care of me and we made a memory out of something that started out with disappointment.
