Meet the couple who used the film strategies of Alfred Hitchcock… for their baby announcement video.

An old poetry professor once said to me:
“Our life’s most profound moments are never far from our life’s most profound lessons. This is partly why we like to share them with others.”
The wisdom exploded into me when he said that. For the next few days I reflected on what I considered “profound” and, sure enough, they were often moments of great insight and of lessons learned. It didn’t matter if the moments were terribly hurtful or filled with total bliss—the way I remembered and even categorized them were often based on what they taught me.
The professor’s lesson came back to me when I saw this couple take their baby announcement to the next level. They took one of their life’s most profound moments and wrapped it up in a societal critique that is true and fun and totally unlike what anyone else has done. Perhaps more so than ever before we are bombarded with suspenseful click-bait titles and commercials and movies and novels and the result is that we’re often under a kind of “suspense fatigue.”
So congrats to this family, for their profound news and for the creative and satirical way they took back ownership of suspense!
Excellent. Congratulations!
