Apparently, Mary J. is brushing up on her acting skills and ditching her blonde 'do to "put a spell on" all the jazz heads out there. The R&B diva has confirmed that she will star in the biography film of legend, Nina Simone.
According to Black Voices, the film was "written by Will & Grace's Cynthia Mort, and is set to begin filming at the end of this month … [The film] focuses on Simone's relationship with her assistant, Clifton Henderson, played by actor David Oyelowo (who is simultaneously filming Selma, the biopic of Martin Luther King Jr').
"I'm definitely still doing it, and I'm in acting classes for it now" says Blige regarding her working on the picture.
Blige's raspy tenor stylings are certainly fit for the part. Acting classes and research will likely lead to a remarkable performance.
