Things you don’t think your dog can do:
1. Use tools.
2. Open the oven.

The lesson? Don’t underestimate the dog.
We used to have a chocolate lab named Stax who was altogether too smart for his own (or our) good, and was incredibly food-obsessed.
Stax actually used to open the freezer (which was on the bottom of our fridge unit) and take out an entire loaf of bread, then open the slider door and eat the bread outside. We’d come home to find the door of the house wide open, the freezer open (and everything melted), and Stax bloated and happy.
He’d always get in trouble for this, so the clever guy figured out that if he would just shut the fridge door and slider after he took the bread outside, we’d be none the wiser. We’d come home to Stax in the yard and look at one another, “Did you leave Stax out?”
“I didn’t think I did, but I must have!”
Days later, we’d find the empty bread wrapper in the bushes and an answer to the unaccounted for missing loaf.
But we never set up a video camera to prove what was happening.
Luckily, this dog owner is way smarter than us, and set up an awesome trap to prove that his dog does, indeed, know how to use a chair as a ladder he can move around in order to retrieve some chicken nuggets.
Genius.
