What does it take to mold the future? Bill and Melinda Gates believe teenagers hold more than just the key.

Bill Gates is arguably one of the most powerful, influential and savvy figures on the planet when it comes to the way we use technology. He joins the ranks of the late Steve Jobs in that regard–and as the co-founder of Microsoft, Gates will forever have a place in modern society.
He’s essentially building upon the foundation that the pioneers before him began to build, even building his own empire along the way. The world knows him as a multi-billion dollar figure, but the world also knows there’s more to this man than just blueprints and computers.
In addition to being one of the forefathers of technology, Gates has also made his mark in the world of philanthropy–speaking to audiences across the country about global impact. His latest endeavor in this arena came in late February, when he and his wife Melinda spoke to a crowd of teenagers from all corners of the globe as part of a letter-writing event at YouTube’s studios located in New York City–which the couple holds every year. They write letters, which they call “annual letters” to encourage young people to think critically about their lives.
This year, the couple decided to gather some of the brightest young minds and talk to them about the theme of this year’s letter, time and energy. The topic of their presentation–centered around the idea that the older generation might be placing too many of the world’s problems on the younger generation’s shoulders to fix–drew an audience of approximately 50 teenagers and started with one vital concept:
“When you’re solving a big problem, it might be helpful to turn it into an actual problem — a math problem!“
The video above shows the presentation in its entirety. The Gates’s utilized this platform to emphasize how one idea can not only change how kids think and function, but also how it can shape everything around them. The 75-minute conversation was highlighted by other nuggets of wisdom–including “Diversity in leadership matters.” and “We need you, and we are counting on you.”
Bill concluded the forum by saying,
“This is a great time to be alive and we ought to be grateful.”
In my estimation, this isn’t just a call to action. It’s not just two famous people spewing words to win over a crowd–and it isn’t about expecting a reward in return. This is about the future, and what mankind is willing to do to make tomorrow better than today.

Bill Gates has done everything he can not to invest in American society. He will not hire American workers, either take the jobs overseas or import foreign workers, and does everything he can to prevent up and coming smart people to start their own companies because guys and gals like him don’t want competition to break their hold on the market place.
