Voltron Legendary Defender brings together unlikely heroes to stop a dangerous galactic threat.
—
I have not watched any of the older Voltron shows. I did have some of the toys as a young kid, and I have seen many shows since then which have similar elements like Mighty Morphing Power Rangers and Beetleborgs. I first really learned about Voltron Legendary Defender at Wondercon and since then I have been watching this show closely. I was able to interview the cast and got pretty excited for this reboot. When the most recent Voltron Legendary Defender trailer came out my excitement only grew because you finally got to hear the cast speak and interact together and man did they sound great. I was able to catch the pilot of Voltron Legendary Defender and here is what I thought of it.
Here is the plot for Voltron Legendary Defender:
“Five unsuspecting teenagers, transported from Earth into the middle of a sprawling intergalactic war, become pilots for five robotic lions in the battle to protect the universe from evil. Only through the true power of teamwork can they unite to form the mighty warrior known as VOLTRON: LEGENDARY DEFENDER.“
Keith (Steve Yeun) pilots the red lion, Lance (Jeremy Shada) is the pilot of the blue lion, Pidge (Bex Taylor-Klaus) pilots the green lion, Shiro (Josh Keaton) is the pilot of the black lion and Hunk (Tyler Labine) pilots the yellow lion. Princess Allura (Kimberly Brooks) the ruler of the kingdom of Arus and Coran (Rhys Darby) Allura’s royal advisor are their allies in the fight to stop King Zarkon (Neil Kaplan) ruler of the Drule Empire and Witch Haggar (Cree Summer) who is a master of dark magic.
I really liked the Voltron Legendary Defender pilot. It does a splendid job of building the characters and bringing them together without divulging too much about their back stories. There are plenty of great glimpses of both of the villains and the army they have which is absolutely massive. This pilot also sets a good foundation for the show which is a great thing to do in my opinion. The special effects are beautiful and the music fits the show perfectly. I also really loved seeing all these unlikely heroes coming together not sure what to do but somehow finding a way to work together. The pilot ends on a great note and fans are sure to love every minute of it.
This Voltron Legendary Defender pilot gets 8.5/10. It was not the best pilot I have seen but it wasn’t the worst either. There is a lot for fans young and old to like here and is sure to breath new life into this series. It is clear that the producers and writers knew what they were doing and I cannot wait to see the rest of the episodes. You learn all kinds of things about Voltron Legendary Defender on this website.
Fans of the earlier shows will really be happy with this reboot. People who like Sci-Fi definitely will want to watch this show. Voltron Legendary Defender is coming to Netflix this Friday.
