If you suspect your significant other is cheating, it can make you feel like a regular Nancy Drew. You might think of clever ways to catch your partner in the act. As someone who’s been cheated on by multiple partners, I have some unique ideas on how to catch a cheater.
Here are five easy tricks to catch a cheater. Though they might not be the most ethical ideas, they often do reveal the answers you’re looking for.
1. Catch Them on Netflix (or Another Streaming App)
If you read my post, I Tried This One Trick — And I Found Out My Partner Was Cheating, you already know that I think the streaming apps can be a great way to catch your significant other cheating. You can put your Netflix, Hulu or Prime TV information on their TV, and the other person might reach out to you.
But here’s the part I didn’t tell you: you can also check your partner’s TV to see if anyone else is logged into their accounts. The problem with Netflix and Chill is that most people aren’t thinking this far ahead. It can be a great way to see if your significant other has been spending time with other people when you’re not around.
This method works especially well if you don’t live together yet, for obvious reasons.
2. Check Their Venmo Transactions
If your partner is dating someone else, there may come a time when someone they’re seeing sends them a Venmo transaction for something they purchased. While things like lunch may be from coworkers, pay attention to transactions that seem like dates — such as popcorn emojis (movie tickets), cocktail emojis, or anything with a kiss emoji or hearts.
Keep in mind that some Venmo users do keep their transactions private, so you might actually need to use their phone to see what’s really going on with their account.
3. Look For Photos on Social Media
Consider checking your significant other’s friends and family pages to see if any photos of them and an affair partner have been shared. If your significant other goes to a family wedding “alone,” you never know what you might find on Aunt Mary’s Facebook page. You might also consider looking to see if any photos from a work party or a friend’s birthday party that you weren’t invited to got shared.
This might feel stalkerish, but honestly? If it’s been shared publicly, it’s available for anyone to see.
4. Reverse Search Any Suspicious Phone Numbers
If your partner gets a suspicious amount of texts from a guy named Bob who you’ve never met, it might be time to reverse search the phone number. (Of course, you’ll need access to your partner’s phone to make this trick work.)
While there’s always the chance that he (or she) does have a friend who you’ve never met, there’s also a chance that it could be someone of the opposite gender.
There are many websites you can use to conduct a reverse phone number search, but I prefer whitepages.com or spydialer.com.
5. Create a ‘Finsta’
A fake Instagram (or Facebook) account can be used to catch your partner cheating. All you have to do is lure them in with a sexy profile picture and compliments.
If creating a fake account to catch your partner cheating seems like a hassle, some people offer this service.
This might be the best test, but beware: If you try this, chances are you will get answers. It’s important to make sure you only do this if you want those answers, because it could very easily end your relationship for good.
It Might Be Time to Reevaluate the Relationship
If your goal is to catch your partner cheating, it might be time to reevaluate the relationship. Trust is the foundation of a relationship. Without trust, you might be in the wrong relationship. Instead of lying awake at night wondering if there’s someone else, it might be time to move on.
Feel free to share in the comments how you caught your significant other cheating. Have you tried these techniques?
