Thrifty Guardian Mom

I’m a mom of two children ages two and three, and wife to Anthony Lozzi, owner of Fit2Father. Prior to launching my company I worked in higher education.
I’m now an Online Business Strategist and proud owner of two websites which I manage from my house. I started with my frugal living website – Thrifty Guardian – and then launched a second site through which I run e-courses and 1:1 programs to share my knowledge and expertise with other business owners.
When I’m not working, I enjoy jogging and reading – my favorite is Stephen King’s books. I also enjoy hosting local workshops for other aspiring entrepreneurs and bloggers and volunteering for local not-for-profits.
Quote.
Listen to the mustn’ts, child, Listen to the don’ts, Listen to the shouldn’ts, The impossibles, The wont’s, Listen to the never haves. Then listen close to me- Anything can happen, child, Anything can be. – Shel Silverstein
What I do well as a mom
I’m really good at focusing on the moment. When I’m with the kids, I’m with them 100%. I don’t allow the cellphone or work left undone to distract me. I’m also good at keeping to my schedule, which helps me appreciate the present rather than stress over the future.
What I learned from another mom
If I want to teach my children to lead joyful and fulfilling lives, I must lead by example. “Do as I say, not as I do” does not work well with children.
What I learned from my children.
To have fun. Prior to having my children, I was so focused on becoming the best professional that I could, working 60+ hours per week without hesitation. Now, though, I make sure to have fun each and every day, no matter what else we have going on. Playing on the swings is a favorite pastime for my children and me.
Successful motherhood moment:
My most successful motherhood moment came from realizing that daycare isn’t necessarily a bad thing. When I quit my job in April 2015, I knew becoming a work-at-home mom would be a challenge, but I didn’t know just how hard it’d be. After a few weeks, I decided everyone would be happier if the kids went to daycare twice a week – and I was right! The children enjoying socializing with someone who isn’t their mom and I’m able to get a majority of my work done gor the week in those two days.
Mom I admire.
My former boss Marci Rockey. She was the first woman to show me how to balance family with career. When her job no longer served her or her family, she had the strength to make scary (but necessary) changes so she could continue to live out her professional dreams while spending more time with her three children. She is the kind of mom I model myself after – kind, patient, strong, and always determined.
